The Washington

Two quaint.

Renovating inside and out.

CMM partnered with N2 Architecture to bring a home builder’s approach to this gut renovation in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ. The 7,000-square-foot property has two homes, both of which received deep interior remodeling and full exterior facelifts designed to be cohesive.

Naturally welcoming.

White oak, Ipe wood, and other natural materials give both homes an airy ambiance. In the main home, a custom kitchen island is a “natural” draw of its own, while a built-in, booth-like nook provides the perfect place to eat, read, chat, or work from home.

Subtly warming.

An abundance of natural light complements the warm tones. For warmth you can really feel, we installed Nuheat flooring mat systems in the master bedroom and master bathroom, a cost-effective alternative to a more expansive radiant heat system. Throughout the project and at every turn, we balanced beauty and budget.

Connected, but not collegiate.

Having family over is more enjoyable and comfortable for everyone in a home that’s made to host extended stays. In this case, the homeowners have an entire apartment above the detached garage to give guests their own place with unique details and all the necessities.

Summer nights with the family.

Personal space inside leads to happy gatherings outside, whether on the porch, deck or patio. The backyard is built around a fire pit and grill for summer cookouts, fall nights by the fire, and that first warm day in spring.

Inspiration is all around.
